So we believe these are from a male yellow lab and female albino scofoli...

I put them in their own 29 gallon which I'm assuming will hold them for quite a while.

My first time using sand also, I got it from my brother who has a pool and so it is basic pool filter sand...from what I've read from actual fish keepers it's by far the best.

Anyhow enjoy the pics, and tell me are these the colors they will always have or will they be much different and if so, when will those changes begin?

Also threw in a pic of my pug, SOPHIE...

Thanks,

Great pics - those babies look good! Also, nice move on getting them in their own tank (safer)! I would say they would be fine in that tank for at least 6 - 8 months but some of the more experienced folks on here may have a better idea?? I'm surprised there stripes are so defined - Will those go away?
Good work - if you get a chance put some full tank pics on here!

lines will fade, not a huge fan of mbuna mutts myself... I guess if you are going to keep them for life it is cool... why not lose those guys and put a small group in the 29 and get fry you can sell...

that is very interesting you say that...give me some ideas? My LFS will take those and give me some store credit, but if I were to put a mating pair in the 29...what sells the best and fits in a 29 gallon.

I'm all about that idea, I also have a big heart and that is why I've gone to these lengths with the mbuna mutts.

Thanks Mike

IMO, I wouldn't distribute those fry to a LFS. You never know what they will sell them as. But, I guess as long as they label them as hybrids....

they usually have 2 tanks of mixed cichlids there...everything else is labled correctly. He sells the mixed for $2.99 a piece or 3 for $5, that type of deal.
