ok so how big should the tank be if i have these fish?
1st tank:

-1 silver arowana
-1 tiger shovelnose catfish
-1 lima shovelnose catfish
-1 clown knife fish
-1 red bellied pacu

2nd tank:
-1 delhezi bichir
-1 weeksi bichir
-1 fire eel
-1 tiger oscar
-1 ornate chaca chaca catfish
-1 needle nose gar

i think the payara is for the next time...

kent, put the tiger oscar in tank 1. Mixing an oscar with bichirs will give you the same problem. I have a big bichir with 2 greedy oscars and I have to place food right in front of the endy's mouth and sometimes one of the oscars still steals it.

Also the needlenose gar is a small fish, the chaca chaca will gobble it. Get a proper gar instead :)

For tank#2 Glasscages makes a great 125g that is 72"x24"x17"tall that they sell for $250, just the tank. It looks perfect for that mix though the needlenose would be happier with 3 of them, make sure they are longer than the oscar and remember that oscars grow quicker. here is a picture from their site of that tank.
For tank #1 you will still need a 400G plus tank to keep those fish for life.

i wanted to get a spotted gar but i live in california...it's illegal(anyway i can get one?)

ok i guess this is the new tank:

1st tank:
-1 silver arowana
-1 tiger shovelnose catfish
-1 lima shovelnose catfish
-1 clown knife fish
-1 red bellied pacu
-1 tiger oscar

2nd tank:
-1 delhezi bichir
-1 weeksi bichir
-1 fire eel
-1 ornate chaca chaca catfish
-3 needle nose gar

are you sure the oscar can be put in tank1?

Looks good. The oscar should be safe with the aro and tsn until they get more than twice it's size. Hopefully some tsn keeper will give moe feedback. You might try posting this question in the catfish section.

there's n doubt the oscar will be fine. They are big bulky fish. An aro or tsn twice it's length could not swallow the oscar.

since some people at aquatic predators have been mean-mugging me; i guess i'll have to cancel my "giant carnivorous tank" and get a 125gallon cichlid tank; any suggestions?

but do you guys think it's impossible for a begginer to have a "giant carnivorous tank"
