thinking of getting a...

tank #1 400gallons:
-1 silver arowana
-1 tiger shovelnose catfish
-1 lima shovelnose catfish
-1 clown knife fish
-1 red bellied pacu
-1 tiger oscar

tank #2 125gallons:
-1 delhezi bichir
-1 weeksi bichir
-1 fire eel
-1 ornate chaca chaca catfish
-3 needle nose gar

outdoor pond 3000gallons:
-5 butterfly koi
-1 black koi
-1 platinum ogon high quality koi
-1 kohaku high quality koi
-30 mosquito fish

does this sound all right to you guys??

i would move the oscar to tank 2 and the three gar to tank 1

now i'm confused, people say that the oscar is fine in tank1 since it will get big enough too not be swallowed and needle nose gars are too small so they can get eaten by big fish like the catfish(tiger shovelnose) and arowana.(top-swimmers)
i think i'm going to keep the oscar in tank1 but i don't know about the needle nose gars...
i wanted a spotted gar but they are illegal in CA.

does anyone know where i can get a acrylic 400gallon tank?
oh, and what is the minimum tank size for a irriscedent shark?

the oscar should go in tank 1, no chance of it getting eaten unless it's significantly smaller than the others when you get them, and you'll have trouble feeding your bottom dwellers in tank 2, oscars are too greedy.

me too!

I think I might see the problem, by needlenosed gar do you mean the X. cancila, a smaller skinny predator that gets 16" long, or the L.osseus, also called the longnosed gar that gets to 80"? Both are often sold as needlenosed gar. It does make a difference, In tank #1 the cancilas would soon be snack food.

since some people at aquatic predators have been mean-mugging me; i guess i'll have to cancel my "giant carnivorous tank" and get a 125gallon cichlid tank; any suggestions?

i think long nose gars are illegal in CA, the ones in the pet shops are small and skinny.
but if i were to get that "giant carnivorous tank", then i would put the needle nose gars in tank2 then.
