Well im on the home stretch with my iguanas new enclosure.

Late weekend all sides top and bottom were sprayed with clear coat to seal from water, Top was built down 10" to fit my glass to go in the front, and tile was layed on the bottom, and exposed wood was stained and soon the tracks will be layed for the glass doors in the front.

tonite we built some of the platform for him to bask on. i need to run one more 2x4 along the back, plywood and mosonite needs to be laid down. we also built the ramp for him to get up there. all framing from tonite will be covered in aftificial turf easy cleaning after it is stained of couse. and the ramp will also have cleats going up it so he can get up easier.

not to much left. i need to hang lights make sure temps are right and i need to hang the glass in the front. hoping for it to be done this weekend. i will post up some more pics as it progresses.

then i get to finish the rest of the closet and get the rest of my cages in there.

Oh and the dimensions are 4 wide 3 deep and 5 high. keep in mind my iguana is out of his cage more than he is in it. most of the time he is hanging out in my room and can go in his current cage when ever he wants. which is why the dimensions are the way they are. and its not super high because he doesnt climb well due to health issues from before i got him

If he is a mainly free roamer how do you keep him warm most of the time and out of harm´s way? Mine left unsupervised would leave a trail of destrucion:D

i iguana proofed where he roams. go around and act like you have a small child that will be roaming around but go way over board.

and as far as heating he is allowed to go in and out of his main enclosure as often as he wants. and my room stays warm in the winter, and warm in the summer. im actually going to be setting up a basking spot in my room over the next few weeks. hes been a free roamer since i have had him. going on about 7 years now and i have never had anything bad happen to him.

I see ;) And during the nigth? How old is he now?:D

during the night he goes in his cage. i have a heat pad that i wrapped in an old tee shirt, at a warm pillow for him:D i know its not the best but i check the pad just about everyday for hot spots, and it is run on low.

ive had him for 7 years now that i think about it. i got him around this time my freshman year in high school. everyone else was getting dogs and i got an iguana. when i got him he was already pretty big prob at least 4 years old. so as of now he is prob close to 11 if not older.

to be honest im real surprised he has lived this long. when i got him he was in rough shape. he was about 4 feet long and lived in a 125 gallon tank at his foster home:eek:. i drove over 2 hours round trip to get him. from the instant i got him he was always calm twords my dad and myself. and i got him home he was in rough shape. he was underweight, had no stregnth, and he walked in circles. he had MBD along with other parasites. he couldnt climb. it took him around 8 months to get to the point where he could climb fairly well. so needless to say it was a long road to recovery. hence why he free roams alot.
Just a breif background on him
my rant is done lol
