I was bored and figured I would see what I could do with my Galaxy S4 camera. It really didn't turn out to bad. I think the Texas look a little smaller than they are not sure why. Also maybe someone can give me some insight in why my Cyano is passing my Carpinti in growth. She was 1/3rd the size of him when I introduced him. He has put on about half an inch and is now 5.5" and she is now about the same size. 20140628_202618.jpg140.jpg138.jpg20140628_202441.jpg20140628_202451.jpg20140628_202656.jpg135.jpg136.jpg141.jpg20140628_202627.jpg20140628_202616.jpg137.jpg

After seeing your side by side would you consider mine to be cyanoguttatus they were sold as carpintis due to their amount of worm pearl

I would say hybrid Cyano/carpinti leaning towards the cyano side. Has the worm pearling but spots are more cyano. I also see both grey and gold back ground. If you look at mine the cyano had a grey back ground while the carptinit had yellow gold back ground. I am thinking many "green terrors" are hybrids these days sort of like the midas/red devils.

Cyanos get bigger than carpintis

I did know that but I didn't expect so rapidly since its usually only 1" or 2 difference in adults and cyano is female. I guess I hope that is the reason and my carpinti wasn't stunted somehow before me getting him.

I was thinking the same thing lfs texas could be anything, another fish I wouldn't chance unless from a trusted source....

Alright thanks guys thats what i thought that they could be hybrids my female she exibits more traits from both species than the male but yeah I'll never trust a lfs especially the one I got them from the same one that afterwards to deformed fry as feeders for a dovii and is now selling them between 9.99 and 14.99 greedy ignorant bastages I tell ya what but you see something nice you go for it but anyways also about the size differents between all the texas I've owned females tend to grow alot faster than males but just not as long for some reason I figure it would be a servival thing bigger female more eggs while small males can always fertilize them

I wouldn't say that I wouldn't chance it. If you are set on having a 100% pure line go through a specialized dealer like I did with my Honduran Red Points. But as far as Texas go I didn't really care I like the looks of them all. I paid 3.99 for my female Cyano and I lucked out I think she turned out gorgeous I took the chance and I scored. The Carpinti is a different story I held out for the one that had the look I wanted. I had to wait along time but and paid $29.99 but it was worth it.
