Its been a couple of weeks since moving my 2 baby P. Joselimaianus and my P. Gibbiceps into the 150g tank with my 12" oscar and 5" severum. They have been a little less active since being in the same tank with such larger fish but still come out quite a bit, particularly at feeding time. They are about 4.5" now and filling out nicely. I still haven't decided which Joseli I will end up keeping.

Larger of the 2 Joselis, he's been this yellowish color since going into the large tank but I don't think its stress coloration because his markings are still very vivid and the coloring is uniform as opposed to blotchy. he never shows darker coloring than this. is this a dominant behavior? Any thoughts?

recent full tank shot right before adding the plecos. i was letting the algae get out of control intentionally in case they didn't take to the pellets right away.

That's not all poop on the substrate, is it?

Yup that would mostly be poop on his substrate from his trio of pleco's. I just cleaned my 135 gallon aquarium which only has 1 6" pleco and boy was there alot of poop and that was only from one week. Pleco's truely are poop machines.

I dont know why your bigger one is showing a lighter coloration. It may just be due to the light colored substrate you have since pleco's will try to blend in and with a light substrate there blend in color is a washed out coloration.

Oh and your Josel's are having the same growth rate as mine are. Mine are still in the 53gal along with several other pleco's but I do HUGE weekly water changes to keep up with them and by huge I mean like 95% WC's. Also I prefer a BareBottom tank for pleco's now since it makes clean up way easier.

yup, mostly poop and you can see some nls pellets mixed in there as well. its mostly on the far ends of the tank where the plecos have claimed territory and hang out.

i was thinking the substrate as well but the other joseli is still really dark so i don't know. when are you going to get some updated pics of yours? and your new footlong guy.

The other one looks like its claiming that dark crevice as his cave which would explain why its staying darker. I know they look awesome with a dark substrate. Mine look dark in there barebottom tank.

I got pictures of all my pleco's just havent had time to post them. Holidays take up my time at work since I work retail. Nice that im getting over time but lil time to mess with my fish or do more then just take pictures. I got like about 30 pictures to upload of just pleco's alone. My tank of a pleco changes color alot. I notice when stressed it shows alot of yellow but when calm it goes dark like most of its kind.

the gibby and smaller joseli began battling for territory, so i decided to move the joseli out and gibby has now taken the right half of the tank. the larger joseli still owns the left side of the tank but i hardly see him when the lights are on.
