impressed by armatus growth rates. In just 8 weeks, the fish have gone from 2-2.5" to 6-7" and developing mature shape. wondering how the others are doing... please share

mine's are like yours too! coloration and growth spurt! my wife couldnt believe
the average growth per month. and im starving my armatus, didnt power-feed because im training it to eat non-live.. imagine if i was power-feeding it??:naughty:

at this rate, they'll be bigger than the largest goliaths and big enough to eat some of the smaller cuda/atf tankmates in a 6 months...

ATFs in general and armatus are similar in many ways. I wonder what may explain the difference in growth rates between the two.

yes,they are very similar.
but even more similar to an armatus is other hydrolycus, which grow damn slow!:nilly:
very nice growth!

Now that's what I call amazing growth rate.
Keep it up, great looking specimens!

I think there are similarities......but, I think ATF's building blocks are more refined, intramuscular, bone structure, these things take time to build up the type of resilience to rock out in the type of water these things are caught in when you take them out of it. That muddy nightmare current is INSANE. The water in South America is a fraction of the aggression. You take a wild fish out of that water in Africa and you put it in a nice clean, calm, quiet tank, and they aren't fighting for their lives anymore building constant muscle strength, Armatus wouldn't last 5 minutes in that water. I'll bet ATF grow that fast in their own water pushing 3G's all day and night.
