Just spent the day on a project - turned out amazing! My house was built in the 90s, and like everything back then was filled with polished brass fixtures. Between me and my mom / stepdad we cranked out the ENTIRE house painting everything oil rubbed bronze (it's amazing how many doors a house has, maybe 15, then light fixtures, sliding handles, railing supports, etc) . Hardest park was taking off all of the doors (needed to paint the hinges). But all we did was wipe each piece down with an alcohol wipe (to get grease off) then spray paint with 2 in 1 paint / primer. They look flawless, and it really updates the look of the house.

We are hoping to sell within the next 6 months and buy a new house (and my monster aquarium), so trying to do all these little projects to help it sell quick and for lots of $$$. Buying all of the stuff (instead of painting) would have been somewhere around $750. Can't say exactly what it adds to the value of the house, but it looks a ton nicer so I'd say certainly worth it.

Sounds like a nice way to update the look of your house. We did oil-rubbed bronze hardware when we built our house twelve years ago. There were some fixtures we weren't able to get in oil-rubbed bronze, so we used an oxidizing chemical to turn the polished brass dark. The hard part was getting the lacquer off the brass, then I just dipped the parts in a chemical bath.

Neat. The cabinets in our kitchen extension does not have any handles or pulls and I've been looking to get some added.
