Hi firstly I'll go over my current stock 1 large giant gourami (1 foot) 1 small red tailed giant gourami (5inch) 3 rocket gar (selling these so do not count) 1 Black ghost Knifefish (8inch) 4 ID Sharks (4inch) 1 fire eel (6 inch) 1 Pike Chiclid (5inch) 1 Sailfin Pleco (1foot) and thats all at the moment

After I upgrade i want a new silver arowana and a florida gar

Currently I have a 6x2x2 running on a fx5 and realize that I will soon need something bigger.

I have been quoted £2500 for a 8x3x2.5 with heater, amazon background 3d, cabinet, light etc and would run it on 2x fx5

or £5,500 for a 9x4x2.5 with all the above inc.

With my current/ desired stock will the smaller tank work or will i need the bigger one. I understand that the bigger the better but would the smaller one be suitable????

Crikey, and its in pounds to :p If you have the money and space, just go for the big one.... face it, either way in the future your going to get it...so why not grab it now :0 (IF you have the money and space) :P

Thanks for the advice on the aro and the gar but i know that. The ID sharks do to and so does the fire eel etc thats why I said my CURRENT tank is 6x2x2 should i upgrade to a 8x3x2.5 or a 10x4x2.5. Thanks anyway mate.

Go with the larger one.

As for filtration, i think a DIY sump is much more better

As big as you can fit/afford. Spend wisely, or spend more later when you realize you should have gone bigger.

Or I could sell my current stock except my sailfin and get 7 red bellied piranha??? Easy6 option, so hard to part with them though

i would go with the bigger tank if you have the room and your floor can hold it. as for filtration i would definately include a sump with your upgrade, and nix the canister. goodluck man

na forget that I want my monster tank Ill just have to save real hard then. Going to give myself till sept 2012 to save the 5K. My fish should be ok in the 6x2x2 till then. Would 2x fx5 work on a 9x4x2.5? i know a sump would be better but would it work
