I have heard that you can improve the flow rate if you replace the eheim 2215 impeller with the eheim 2217 impeller. Does anyone know if this works or what hardware i will need to do this i was thinking i might need to replace more than the impeller for this but wasnt sure.

Tom, there was a hobbyist on another forum that did his own tests with both of these filters and determined that there was an increase in flow rate when replacing the 2215 impeller with a 2217 impeller. He was a member that I highly regarded for giving valuable information in an unbiased manner.

That said, I'm not positive that his experiment took in all the potential variables because the 2215 uses 15W & the 2217 uses 20W. The 2215 has 1/2" intakes & output hoses; the 2217 has 5/8" input & 1/2" output hoses. Also, the 2215 impeller has 3 blades and the 2217 impeller has 6 blades.

The 2217 impeller can be used in a 2215 filter without any other modifications.

Hope this helps.
