Just a general question to those out there.
I currently have 125 gallon native tank with some Yellow Perch, Bluegills and some Pumpkinseeds.
I am upgrading from a 125 gallon setup to a 150 gallon tank.
I currently have one of those basic metal stands for the 125 gallon tank, the 150 tank is the same dimensions as the 125.
Do you think that the stand has the strength to hold the 150. I'm probably going to weld some extra support in there to be safe.

Has anyone else made the switch from a 125 gal tank to a 150?
I've tried a few searches and I can not find an answer to this one.
Thanks in advance,
Dwayne

I would think it should be fine with only a 25 gallon difference, but I would wait to see other responses.

The 150 would only be around 250 pounds heavier so i think it would be fine. Putting extra supports would always be best!

yah extra tends to be better, but I would wait till more people weigh in. Just in case. It is always better to form an opinion from multiple responses.

I have made the switch. The short metal stand is holding up fine from the extra weight. So I say go for it!

Thanks again.

Just put the new tank into position. I'm gonna leave it 1/2 - 3/4 filled until I can get the extra brace. I do feel better now that I know somjeone else has done it, thanks for the reply.

I'll post pics as soon as I get everything straightened out.

Thanks again to all,

Dwayne
