This weekend i'm upgrading my 75 to a 125. I'm also swapping out my 2 crappy whispers for 2 ac110 and adding a canister. If i simply take the bio-sponges from the 2 whisper filters and put them in the 110's would this be enough to avoid any problems? and of course I will be putting all 75 gallons from the old tank into the new tank.

Good idea, transferring the sponges. No need to put all 75g from the old tank into the 125g. Just transfer maybe half the water over. It would be of greater benefit to transfer some of the substrate from the 75g over to the 125g. The substrate, as well as the aforementioned sponges, hold the majority of your beneficial bacteria. All in all, sounds like a good plan. Good luck and enjoy your new tank!

BB lives on all surfaces under the water. (decor, substraight, glass, etc) move as much of it as possible to the new tank. just for peace of mind you should buy an amonia test kit a nitrite test kit and nitrate test kit and monitor them daily for the first several weeks. 2 AC110s should be more than enough filtration. Great filters! I use one AC110 (mechanical) on my 6' tanks along with an air driven sponge filter (bio)

thanks for responding guys. yes i will be taking everything from the 75, substrate, slate, wood, plants. i also have all the needed test kits.

you should be fine. are you moving the substrate as well? If so, put the old water in containers, then move substrate first. Next fill with old and new water. Some daily water changes and testing the water every day for a week should help too.
