A couple months back I picked up an American Eel from a local bait shop to practice keeping eels with. Turns out he is a lot easier to keep than I anticipated and is doing really well, but that said if I plan on keeping him long term I'm going to have to start thinking about upgrading to a tank he can live in once full grown.

Whats a good size tank to shoot for? He's not very active and spends most of the time hiding under the rocks, because he doesn't swim around much would he be okay in a 100gal or should I go bigger?

Also he's fairly aggressive so I think he is probably going to be the only fish in the tank, unless anyone can suggest other tank mates he wont eat. Maybe a crayfish or some other invertebrate?

What about bichirs as well? I have my doubts that I have space for a tank large enough for both but they are a fish that got me into fishkeeping despite never owning one. Would it be possible to keep these guys together? And if so what size tank would I need?
