I've done alot of low light tanks with plants over the years. lets face it.. I just prefer live plants to fake ones.. I can tell the difference. But I'm interested in taking my planted system to bigger and better things. ATM I have a 20H running a Hagen T5HO TT.. My question is.. If I upgrade my tank to a 37T Do I need more lighting? as it is I battle algae constantly.. and if I'm reading right I'm in the "High" light range w/out CO2.. I would like to get into trying my hand at CO2 as well but for the 20 could not justify it. Will I need to upgrade my lighting? or will I be good? I'de like to stay in the mid-high range as atm I have dwarf chain swords, and would like some other high light loving plants.

raise the fixture a few inches or run one bulb. you shouldnt be running that much light w/o co2 anyway. you should be using normal output bulbs if you dont plan on using co2. as for the tank upgrade, is the length of the fixture enough for the bigger tank?

It's got an expandable frame on it. It fits a 20H perfectly.. but the 37T is the same as a standard 29Gal footprint. the tubes are 24" atm it's approx 16" from the substrate and in the 37T it'll be about 25" give or take an inch. so I'll have about 3" on either side at the top of "dead light" or not direct light?

This is it, mine is the 24" twin tube version. And tyvm for the input.

the 37's dimensions are 30L x 12D x 23H
