My Jag and Flowerhorn need a move as they have almost outgrown the grow out tanks. I have the old double stand for my cracked 55 gal and was wondering if I should even bother tracking down 2 more 55s, one for each fish.

Wondering the length of time I could keep each alone in a 55gal before an upgrade would be needed. THe Jag is almost 4" now, the flowerhorn is 4".

I have an issue with floor stability here. I have a 125gal but I'm waiting on another apartment to open up on ground level.

Wondering if the 2 55s would do the trick til I relocated.

I assume the 55g is the standard 48"x12" foot print. One fish in that tank should be good up to about 10". With good filtration and a good water change schedule. This could last any where from 6 months to 1 year depending on the growth rate of the fish.

A 55g will work for both for about 6 months. But if you have floor issues 2 55g tanks puts more pressure on the floor then the 125g. The 2 55g will set on less joists then a 125g. More pounds over less square footage = more likely for something to cave in. So really your 125g is safer then putting the 2 55g up on a double stand.

my questions is what kind of apartment do you live in? I use to have a king size water bed on a 3rd floor apartment along with a 90gallon, 30 gallon 29 gallon and a 20 gallon fish tank and they didn't have any issues with me having all that weight in 1 apartment.

I thought the 2 55s would be more of a strain on the floor. Things is, I don't plan on keeping the 2 in the same tank. The jag has teeth already and began eating his dithers last week and if I set up the 125 I have to set up another tank for the FH.

This apartment sucks but I have to wait out my lease or transfer to the bottom floor. I had an A/C vent fall through my ceiling after all the rain we got in Tennessee a month back, I really don't want to risk the lives of the people under me :p
