I have a couple of questions, currently I have a 55 gal thats been setup for a couple of years I have a couple of JD"s about 5-6 inches and a couple of convicts with a TetraTec pf 500 and a smaller Aqueon. My 180 has a sump. First question is Can I take the media out of the filters running now and maybe put some gravel in a pouch or something and put that in the sump and not have to worry about a cycle? Second, If I hang the Bio-Balls that came with the sump in my current tank will they start collecting some bateria? thanks

You should do both of those things. It will not eliminate the cycle, but it sure will speed it up. I have had tanks cycle in just a few days by seeding well.

x2, do both but still let it cycle...180 gallons is alot of water....and it also depends on what stock you will plan on having in there at first to see how big the bio load will be
