I recently acquired one at the size of 1.5-2".

The tank I have provided is a 15 gallon, with nice amount of current and a big piece of driftwood.

The fish is in a small tank, as the fish is too small and I feel in a big tank it wouldn't get enough food.

But the problem I face is, the fish is too darn shy and never comes out of its cave, other than the few times I have seen it sitting just at the edge of its cave.

I have a few shrimp in the tank, to eat any uneaten foods, I feed mainly Hikari cichlid gold sinking, and Tilapia fish fillet.

Kindly let me know if I am doing something wrong, or is this the normal way these fish behave.

I do have some experience with acanthus Adonis, I have three of em, one is a 9year old, grown from 1.5" - 14" and the other two are 6-7" specimens, don't remember their ages, will have to check as to when I got em and at what size.

You should be fine. But I myself like larger tanks just a bit easier for consistent water quality.

I would say just be careful not to over feed, I've made the mistake if overfeeding because I want the pleco to grow. Can lead to bloat.

Feed before lights go out and the pleco should come out when no one is around. Hiding is totally normal. Lda105s are really nice. Goodluck

My Pseudas were shy for a while. But now come out when its feeding time. I would give him time to put on some size. Any other tankmates besides the shrimp?
5 guppies and a killie

I have a group of 4 typhoons and they were shy at first but now as soon as I open the lid they're usually out and about looking for food. The smaller ones are less bold but they do venture out. I'm sure yours will be fine. I did have an L25 once that would never leave it's cave and I ended up having to put food right in front of it.

Yeah it's always nice with large tanks, but I am afraid it might not get enough food

Reading all your above inputs, gives me relief, thanks a lot for sharing your experience
