I need some ideas for a upper level swimming fish that can be kept with Semi aggressive SA cichlids. The tank has Geo's, Uaru, severum, and a few others. The largest fish is a 14 inche oscar but it doesn't seem to ever be interested in eating other fish. All of my fish seem to stay from the halfway point down except at feeding time. The tank is 30inch tall, so there is always a lot of open space up top. Any idea on what I could add? I almost bought some large swordtails but was afraid they would get beat up or killed.

Thanks

Silver dollars or pink tailed chalceus would work. They are large enough not to be eaten. I think you are right about swordtails.

Easy answer, Festivum, moderate size growing cichlid, prefers the upper regions (more so if floating plants or tall plants are present, considering your current stock duckweed or fake plants would be way to go there), my 2 bob

Thanks for the replies. The pink tailed chalceus or festivum choices are good options. I have thought about pink tailed chalceus before but forgot about them. I'm not a fan of silver dollars or giant danio's. So those 2 options are out, and of course they are the most commonly available.

Absolutely consider 6 or 9 Aurelius Barbs!!! I made my neighbor buy 3 for her tank and she is soo pleased with them! At least check them out.

Pink tailed chalceus would be cooler then silver dollars.

Wold need many and large silver dollars, way too skitish for just top movement, they much prefer to be under archways, wood, etc. not hanging at the top
