I'm from the capital region and there seems to be nothing but Petco's and Petsmarts... Anyone from around this area? Anyone know of a good LFS in this area?

I'm in Scotia... Wow, can't believe someone on here is near me, so where do you get your goods? lol

I'm in Syracuse, really good guy here who has helped me tremendously. Also great shop in Burlington, VT if that's closer to you. welcome

Yes, Burlington takes the L out of LFS for me too, but I also go there for work. The Pet Advantage is the shop, 350 Dorset Street. Chris or Jason. jason@thepetadvantage.com. 802-860-1714. GL

If your in scotia u have a few choices. You have eddies aquariums where everyone goes. eddiesaqua.com. Then you have davey jones locker on delaware ave in albany. Eddies sells alot of different fish from gresh and saltwater, but most fish are small. Davey jones sells smal and large fish some that eddies doesnt sell. I would go to eddies first then davey jones.

I live in Rotterdam (between Albany and Schenectady).

I recommend going to Eddies, but if you're looking for rare species then I suggest ordering online, as no one in this area keeps anything beyond the occasional silver arowana.

I buy everything online.

you've clearly never been to davey jones then cuz they sell some hard to find fish. They sell rays, gars, among other fish you never see at eddies but online

I've been there a couple of times, it must have been when their stock wasn't at its best. I also used to call a lot and they never had things I asked for such as gars. I like it as a store, Eddies has just always been closer to me (I used to live in Clifton Park before I bought my house).

Maybe I will have to take another stop over to Davey Jones.

That said, it's still my opinion that if you're planning on getting serious about the hobby and you don't live in Cali or NYC then you better prepare to start ordering online...
