Ok guys unsure if got caught unawares or should be worried, when I checked on my baileyi tonight, he was completely upside down resting. My initial thought was he must be dead so went and got a net to look closer and check, he promptly swam around disgruntled and then wedged himself sideways in one of his favourite spots like so:

He did eat an entire mussel yesterday without chewing and went a weird shape before I could stop the bugger and has been pretty incapacitated since. Water params are all good, I did find the lid slightly squiffed but it does this and sometimes I dont close properly so couldnt say if to do with him trying to jump and trapped air perhaps or if it was me.
He does seem to still have a large belly but me and my partner cant decided if this is still undigested food (which from the amount should think so) or trapped air.

Just terribly worried as he was completely upside down and never seen that before, also that he doesnt seem himself. Any suggestions would be great (even if it is to tell me to stop being stupid!) I do tend to worry about my pets constantly :screwy:

Hi J_P thanks for the answer :)
I have been thinking trapped air or ticked off, hadnt thought of constipation... I have yet to find him today as he has been far moodier since me disturbing him. How do you treat constipation in puffers?? He is a pretty laid back chap usually and lets me nudge him around, I may try and feel his belly to see what is going on..

epsom salts as stated... since he ate the ENTIRE muscle, there might have been an air pocket in the food?

either route you go doesn't require medication.

How's his poop?

Hey sorry to come back to this now, have posted on PF as well. I didnt bath him in the end as he got over it and thought he was just being an odd puff. He has been ticked off since and eaten the odd worm here or there, but came home tonight and he was upside down at the surface. Tried to burp and got him to inflate fully twice but no difference. His anus looks a bit prolapsed (from what I have read) but unsure if this was due to the shock and rubbing just given him. No epsom salt about the house and only table salt...Wont be able to get any until weekend either as local doesnt have any! Any tips??
