upto what size can a TSN or RTC reach if will be kept in a 400g pond?or is it that tank/pond size will not even matter to stop the growth of these monster fish?:nilly:

Water quality and variety of diet affects the growth more than anything. It's a matter of providing a quality living environment for your fish to be happy in. 400g is too small for a 36" RTC or bigger!!

A tsn is not for a 400g pond
as the fish gets to 3' within 3 years or so, depending on how u have been keeping the fish

my cats look big for my current 2000g pond

the problem is these fish don't stop growing, they keep growing and eating and once water params are not holding good for them their metabolisms don't work that well and they either stop eating or start regurgitating what they have eaten

i see,so keeping them in a small pond won't even stunt or stop their growth?
It will in that they will die and dead things dont grow much. Stunting is extremely unhealthy.

Stunting occurs in almost all captive fish - koi can reach a body length of over 4ft but how many have you ever seen in a private pond.
In reality your fish are likely to hit 30-36in in captivity rather than 5-6 foot total length for the red tail and about another 8in for tsn.
People always bang on about stunting monster fish but in nature a neon tetra hits 2in while a plump 1 incher seems to be good in a tank.
The flip-side of this is you may get the cat that would have been 9ft in nature and end up with a 6ft tank specimen after all adult humans can range from 18in primordial dwarfs to almost 9ft.:D

wow!well explained jp!nice comparison too..lol!
i agree with all you've said...
so,how big would be the limit if they will be kept in a 400g?

i would expect the full 36in but cant guarantee.
However if you wanted to try some cats that i don't have - filamentosus or torosus for example i might re-house them if they get too big :naughty:
