I bought a small long spin urchin for my 15 gallon nano tank. I then left on vacation. When I came back all I had was a pile of spines and broken pieces of shell all over the tank. The tank mates are a ocellaris clown, a bicolor pseudochromis, and a crab that a neighbor of mine found in a local tide pool. Can you help me find which fish is most likely to have killed my urchin.

I figured it was the crab. Especially since it is a crab out of the local tide pools by my house. (which are full of urchins). My dad swears it is the bicolor but I don't think so. I am goin to have to take that little pain of a crab out and replace the urchin.

sounds like the size of the tank.. wasn't enought to eat and died over the vaction..

i agree with biggourami, the exact thing happened to me once. i hate it when people buy stock for your tank, don't you? :(:irked:

doubt it was the crab

some urchins just dont transport well, thats my guess. their not that hardy anyways

but if yo didnt have enough algae it could have starved.

urchins lose there spines when there stressed but most just do that lose spines and recover maybe u didnt have enough food for him to eat as he is a scavenger eating diatoms and detrius
