My mantis shrimp is coming in next week. I just realized that the aquarium glass is HIGHLY reflective - even with black paper on the outside. I don't want the shrimp striking at the glass because it saw it's reflection and forcing me to buy a new tank (or maybe I do, 55 gal here I come!) :headbang2

Help, please. (Q: how to cut down on glass reflection?)

I think you should use 3D backgrounds for the sides and back. Perhaps put slates on all those sides to block the reflection or use silicon to stick thin layers of styrofoam firmly inside the tank.

Oh, yeah! 3D backgrounds! I'll probably use one, or stick a piece of black poster plastic on the inside. Or I'll get the spare (black) thin pad of filter floss and silicone it to the side... or just clip it at the top and bury it at the bottom because my tank is already filled...This might actually be a really good idea because it will eventually become live.

Whoa, dude. That article is scaring me a lot now...lucky that when I decorated, I filled all the corners with rubble and large rocks... and the storing energy and saddle thing - I didn't even know they did it like that! Thanks for sharing.

I use 3d background on the sides and back of my tank. I have had my mantis shrimp for 2 years now and have never had a problem. You dont want him smashing the tank. I have seen the results. They can completly shatter the side of a tank

you don't see reflections from inside the tank
