i recently rescued 5 2"-3" jack D that where being kept in a 10g the guy mailed me and wanted to know why they were fighting and when i told him he asked me to take them which as im shore youve guessed i took them :headbang2 any way their nearly 2 years old and as their ownly 2"-3" their deffenatly stunted unfortuantly they prob wont grow to their full potential size

so i put them in a 50g breeder and the next day i found just 2 the other 3 had no stomaches and no eyes yes grose :WHOA: :( so i put a divider in and guess what one of them last night jumped the divider and got in with the other when i was in bed lookely they didnt kill each other but they had been fighting quite bad the noses look kinda stumped  but their not fighting now and they kinda look not to bad near each other so im thinking they may have made their terotory and im still debating if to divide them agen or just let them be together

what do yous think pls answer as soon as poss as this is an urgant matter
thanks callum

I would keep them divided. Use an egg crate as an divider.

yeah keep them divided until they heal up and then you can try having them together again, thats horrible that they are that old and only 2-3in, and great rescue but i doubt they will live much longer, i guess at least they are in some nice clean water and actually have space to swim around before they pass..... but they are extremely stunted and everything inside them is squished so i wouldnt expect them to live much longer even with great care but who knows maybe you will be lucky and they will start a growth spurt or maybe they aren't as old as he said

thanks so much for the advice MFK'ers i did divid them agen but guess what happend agen i woke up to find that they had jumped the divider once agen :WHOA: so ive divided them agen yes alot of agens!!! so im just hopeing them heal up and do start growing but its very unlikely i think im just peed that 50g is the biggest aquarium i have spare and with the divider they ownly have like 20g of swimming room taking away water volume for grevel filters and other equipment so its realy still not as big as they need so im thinking should i keep them or should i donate them to my local aquarium shop where she can keep them in her 100g aquariums i do know her quite well

since they are that small and most likely will not grow anymore before they die i would just go ahead and keep them, they may only have 25g to swim in but their waste is still spread out within the whole 50g so IMO they will be fine, what kind of divider do you have in there? thats crazy that he keeps jumping it, i guess it shows they have plenty of energy lol, they should be happy just to have the extra space you would think they would stay put haha

can you post any pictures of 2-3 inch jacks that are 2-3 yrs old. just curious to see what they look like.

I think your actions are very admirable but fear your fighting a loosing battle. 2 years in what clearly sounds like overexpossure to excesssive Nitrite has done a job on the overall health of those.
