i have a problem in my tank. im not sure but i think my fish have external parasites. almost all of them are constantly rubbing against things in the tank or doing barrel rolls. there is nothing visible on the fish and i always use conditioning salt with every water change. should i treat with mela fix or any other suggestions? HELP PLEASE!!!!!!! i love my fishies.

No mela fix...Your tank is cycling....Do some tests...Do you have a tank that is not "spiking" right now?

what do you mean? it shouldnt be cycling its been up for over a week and the filter and decor (including substrate) was all used in aprevious tank i took all the water from also. as far as spiking the ph level is fine.

Your fish are doing spirals........check the ammonia....

i dont have an ammonia test kit. 25% water change? or 50. should i put in mela fix after the waterchange just to be safe? they say its not a chemical just tea tree oil. and ive always heard when fish rub against things it means external parasites.

Do you have a tank that is not having an ammonia spike? Mela fix will not help anything. You need a test kit, before any speculation can begin....

ive told you i dont have an ammonia test kit and its six am i cant get one. i have done a 30% waterchange now. what im asking is now that the waterchange is done the speculated ammonia problem should be gone. should i treat with mela fix in case it isnt ammonia that was the problem.

As far as salt, please stop using it. You're simply wasting your time and money using it. Water changes are not enough for you to speculate ammonia is gone. You need a test kit to determine your ammonia level. Please buy one when you have time. Avoid the test strips. Don't treat unless you figure out the exact cause of the fish's troubles.
