I have a 2 1/2 inch EBJD that recently started hiding a lot and has white stringy poop. This started about 5 days ago and so i bought Prazipro in hopes that would help. I did a 50% water change and added the instructed amount. It is now day 4 on the medication and he still has white stringy poop and seems to be hiding more and has stopped eating. I fear this is the end :/ is there anything I can do? Is this just the process of Prazipro killing internal worms?

My specs are

55 gallon tank
2 Magnum 350 canisters
3 airstones
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite:0
Nitrate: 10
Ph: 8.0

That is not normally a side effect of prazi which is pretty mild. I would venture a guess that you are dealing with a bacterial infection and not IPs. What have you been feeding? With your water treat with Kanamycin.

Take him out and put him in a quarantine tank.
You can continue the prazi but I personally find that shooting epsom salt down his throat via a pipette and a little bit of Metro would be a safer and more efficient route of treatment.
Once in quarantine, you can add both Metro and Prazi to the tank (something like API general cure), but I would stick with just metro.

The thing about ebjd is that they have very sensitive digestive and immune systems and the medication alone can stress them out into death. That is why I recommend the natural route of epsom salt, but in your case Metro would be needed. Good luck

I feed the tank a mix and switch each day. I used Hikari Alfae wafers once or twice a week for my bottom feeders, then i used Hikari carnivore for the EBJD (which he used to love and wont touch since this began), Aqueon Shrimp pellets (someone gave them to me so im trying to finish the pack), Tetra granules, and recently I bought NLS pellets to try to make him eat, but he only ate that once and now he wont touch that either! Someone suggeted I add Epsom salt to the water to work as a laxitive but i dont know if it works the same as him digesting it, but i almost have no choice since he wont eat.

Well, if you want the best chance of saving the guy, you should consider investing $10 or so in a 10gallon.
Medication will not be as efficient in a big tank.
Start with the pipette treatment for now

Ok ill see what i can do about a hospital tank. My friend has a small 2 gallon. Do you think that will work for him being so small?

If you have been treating with prazi and the fish is continuing to get worse I would treat for a bacterial infection of the digestive track usually Aromonas. When The intestins are infected one of the symptoms are loose feces, or white (Mucous covered) feces often confused with internal nematodes. This is common with EBJDs and Green Terrors which also classicly display symptoms this way and are just as often misdiagnosed and treated. However it is your fish so treat as you see best. I just mentioned the above so you have an option if you choose to go this rout. Good luck.

Im going to look into that! Sorry for some many questions, but im thinking of going out and buying a 10 gallon. I will be able to put an airstone from my 55 becaue they will be side by side. However i wont have any filtration. What do you suggest?

You can treat that way and dosing will require less medacation. Just follow the instructions on the package. When setting up the tank use 50% tank water and 50% clean water. You should also heat the tank so it doesn't drop below 80. While treating bacterial infections it is often advisable to lower the temp to retard the reproduction of the bacteria however young EBJDs need warm water so a compromise must be reached. Kanamycin is the med you need if your ph is 8. Others either will not be effective against this or will be ineffective at higher ph levels such as Maracyn (Erythromycin) for gram Positive or Maracyn 2 (Minocyclin) ineffective at ph levels much over 7.2. The other common meds available aren not absorbed so will be usuless for systemic infections of the digestive system. If you can't find Kanamycin see if the LFS can get it or order it on line.
