crap, i dont know what happended, but my big festivum cichlid just tried to eat a zebra loach, and now the loach is stuck in her throat and she is very stressed out and starting to breathe really hard and sink to the bottom of the tank, is there anything i can do to get that loach out or did i just lose two great fish, please, the faster the better, shes in there dying right now

Can you see the oach? If so catch the fish and hold it with a wet towel. Use some scissors to try and cut the loach up a lil in her throat.

ok thanks guys, the tail is hanging out, im gonna try and cut up the loach, ill let you know what happens

Thats your only real hope if the loach has a barb or spine or whatever and is truly stuck. I dont know moot about loaches so I have no clue. Try the scissor way it has worked for me

ok, so i just got the loach out. Its spines were fully extended and im not sure how much it tore up her mouth though, shes a little small to actually be able to look in really good. at least she can breathe now, so she has a chance. I put her back and shes just glided to her hide and is just kinda sitting there on the gravel breathing heavilly, so i guess the next few hours and tonight will tell, hopefully she'll pull through. thanks for the quick advice, ill let you know if she makes it, thanks again

cichlids should be pretty song just maybe the worst that can happen is your fish might go dumb after the little surgery
