Okay so today it is a steady 20-30 degrees and my pond has been frozen for about a week now. I walked about 10 feet off shore onto my pond today and i was on it for about 10 minutes as I was scared I would fall through. So I'm guessing by the depth I saw today its about 3-4" thick and tommorow should be a little thicker as it is supposed to be in the low teens tonight. How thick is the ice for you guys when you go out on it? Please all jokes or non seriousness aside. How thick will the ice need to be to be certain of no faults? I made three test holes in the ice today and it seemed very stable. I've only been on ice before to play hockey as that's what my pond is usually used for. But I've recently got big into fishing and now I'm planning on fishing it. Cars and my quad were previously driven across it in previous years but the ice was about 12-16" thick then. I saw a video of a larger sized grown man on ice that was glass thin and about 1-2" thick. So I'm assuming its safe, and I wanted advice from your more experienced views. So thank you for reading all this. Anyone going out tomorrow?

There's really no such thing as "safe" ice...2" will usually support a person and 3-4" is what most want for fishing...
