I've been keeping a 4" SAL with some 1.5" Baysnooks and cichla. And he has had a big part of his tail bitten off. So i've removed him and put him into a 24x15x12 tank on his own. I've put loads of floating plants in it for him to hide in and added a weak does of melafix he will have his own tank from now on no tankmates. Do you think he'll survive? He still loves swimming through his plants.

I've had LFs with nearly a full third of their tails gone recover completely. However, I'd end the melafix treatment. I've had bad results treating air-breathers with this stuff. It seems to hinder air-breathing (probably from the coating action of the med). I'd treat with Maroxy instead or a light sulfa med.

Thank you. It was a very weak dose. I'll keep you all updated.
