i've been sick throughout the weekend. i puked blood friday, i need to know because i did handle one of my fish, if this could be bacteria or maybe even a parasite i could have contracted from my fish. pls respond quick my DR appointment is in 30 mins

I would just recommend informing the doctor that you handled "x" fish recently, could that have anything to do with it?

You probably have a bleeding ulcer or 2, does the fish you handle normally cook you spicy food? If not does it nag at you and give you stress?

Fish tank granuloma usually doesn't involve vomiting blood. Just tell him you have been in contact with aquariums so that aspect isn't overlooked. It is possible, but I think the odds of it being something you ate are higher than something from your tank.

I don't know where you are in the US, but there have been alot of virus's going around lately. Especially the flu, recent outbreaks have been coming out, and I myself have had the worst stomach bug since last week, worst stomach pains ever. I doubt it would be from handling fish, just because you touched something out of the ordinary is always makes you think it could be from that. I know my dart frogs aren't poisonous because their captive, but I just blame them :)

Did you puke blood initially or were you puking so much that after a while a little blood started to come out with the vomit. A little blood in the vomit is very common with cases of flu virus where the person vomits so much that it cause slight tears in the esophogus. This happened to my friend this winter.

Anyway good luck, and I feel as long as you're well enough to ask about your illness here you will pull through okay.

thank you very much for the information. my dr said he is 98% sure its some infection posible from the turtle i caught for my brother from the local river (he had 3 and i wanted to complete his ninja turtle collection :P ) wich means i probly have selomonella. the reason i suspected the fish is because i got sick hours after handling him, and i puked what looked like a cigarette. my moms been a nurse for 20 years and said its called coffee grains (not realy coffee duh just a slang term for md's) and that it meant i had a GI (gastro intestinal) bleed. agian im sure it was the turtle, and i just want to let people know their are fish to human bacteria that is harmful for you and from now on i will wear gloves and suggest you to do the same. check out the "jack dempsy" i bought from my lfs for 12$'s lol :P its a bad pic but all i can get up for now.

Stop drinking from your aquarium. Dont eat your fish!

Glad your doing better and in a Dr.'s care.

It's good to remind people of these problems.

Next time don't show off, just catch the turtles with your hands instead of your teeth :D.
