my big tank has recently borken out into ich! after such occurence it looks like my pacu is shedding its skin, and all my fish sit in one corner motionless. does anyone know what this is?

i have done many water changes and added salt, raised the water temp., and put some meds in and nothing, when we raised the temp in the water, the fish seemed to act better. but then went downhill fast.

can anyone help me with this? these fish are very valuble to me and don't wanna looses them.

Ich does not cause shedding skin. What are your water parameters (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate)? The reason that the increased temp probably looked like it helped is that increased temp increases metabolism, making fish more active and more hungry. Do you have photos of the fish? What meds have you used? Have you run carbon to clear the water of meds, or are they all still in the tank? What size is the tank, and what fish are in it?

im not sure what the water params are yet, i just got home, and same with pics, but i have put the carbon back in after meds didn't work. i was using pimafix, and some ich control meds, but still nothing

Water parameters are extremely necessary. Did you diagnose the ich when you saw salt-like specks on the fish? Or was there some other symptom? Please provide ammonia, nitrite, nitrate levels, and some description of the symptoms that caused you to begin treating for ich, and a better description of the symptoms now. Are the other fish visibly okay, but just lethargic, and the pacu is the only fish that shows external symptoms? What ich control meds are you using, and why are you using more than one, along with pimafix and salt and heat?

Edit: Also, since you have added carbon, we can assume all of these meds are gone, if it's been in for awhile, unless the carbon was over a month old. If it was old, it may have removed nothing, so keep that in mind, as well.

my whole tank has been infected, and my pacu were the first to show symptoms, it was salt like spots and turned into the external effects, what is going on with the pacu is going on with all the fish. i didn't use all the meds at once, and i have removed the carbon during treatment of each. i have what looks like cloudy eye, lock fin, and whatever the peeling thing is.

None of those three symptoms are due to ich, really. What are your water parameters? I'm not sure about peeling skin, (which could be bacterial, but bacterial infections are usually related to water quality), but cloudy eye and clamped fins are almost always related to water quality. Surely you've had time to test by now. I think this is the key to what's going on. Do you still see salt-like spots? How long did you treat for? These symptoms no longer sound like ich to me. They sound like the effects of poor water quality.

my water is over filtered, and my water is crystal clear, my pacu have died since this morning and im losing my oscar as i type this, the only fish that are showing any sign of energy is the goldfish and tinfoil barb. and no i haven't had time to test the water as i work from 4:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m and go to school from 7:50 a.m to 3:00 p.m.

Testing takes five minutes. Clear water is not clean water. You should know this by now. Why can't you test the water after you get off of work? You had time to type this message, as well as all of the others, but you can't test? Your fish are dying. Don't you want to know why? Maybe you can keep the others from dying if you take action now.

Justonemoretank is right. Ich does not cause cloudy eyes, and skin "shedding" except for clamped fins. I'd look into your water parameters if I were you. Failing that, how else will we know what other issues you may have that you overlooked? If you cannot invest in a test kit, ask your store to do it for you but make sure their test kit is not tampered with, expired or made of test strips. Use API liquid drops to tell you the accurate results and never accept comments like "water is okay". Make them write down the results and post them here.

I have never lost any fish to ich. Salt and heat treatment has always worked very well for me and fish never exhibit any other unusual symptoms than occasional flashing which in itself is pretty much understandable.

well my test kit only shows ammonia, ph, and nitrite. i will test the water in a sec, i am doing a 90% water change, i removed the fish and draining the water now, trying to see if i can do the slightest to help them. originally when we tested the water the nitrites were a little high and the nitrates were a little high and ph was a little low, but we got chemicals to raise the ph and drop nitrites and nitrates. but as of recently the water was clear and they were just fine, then they got ich and they got it bad. then more and more began to happen. i am starting to wonder if it isn't the water. because both of my big tanks began to act up at the same time. but i was able to contain my smaller 55 gallon tank before it got to bad.
