My U.philbyi, Peanut is healthy and happy. We ended up giving him a dirt substrate that holds phenomenal burrows. My brother's obsession with monitors has encouraged me to step away from what is normally accepted as good husbandry for uromastyx. He has a hot spot reaching temperatures of 170 degrees (surface temperature). His soil allows him to dig down and get to a more humid area like they would in the wild. Here is a quick vid my brother took... Turn off the volume. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tp3HcPfjLyQ&feature=youtu.be

I bought it from a nursery. It is organic, no manure, and it has leaf mold compost. I mixed it a bit with sand so it would hold a burrow better. Later when I get more I will post a picture of the label. Any soil will do, as long as it is pesticide and manure free, and it holds its shape when you clench it in your fist. If you want some more help with it tell me.

Thanks! Ill start looking for it, what ratio sand to dirt did you use?

If I had to guess, 50/50. We mixed it in but by bit until we got it right. It will all depend on the dirt you get. Just experiment.
