I've own BDs before. I've not owned Uros. I think the Uros are so damn cool and cute at the same time, but can we tame them to chill like the BDs?

I like one for personality, and the other for looks. Which is better pet to you?

I've never had either but I've always wanted a Uromastyx. If I was to ever get a BD, it would have to be one of the sandfire morphs.

Never had either, but I've seen some pretty tame uro's. Problem with uro's is you still see some wild ones, the BD's we see are all captive bred.

If you want to do something different... the choice is obvious. But it depends if what you want in a lizard. If you want a beardie personality, get another beardie... maybe a different colour morph to spice things up lol.

I have kept both of them. Out of the two the beardie is the more personable of the two. But the uro is pretty much the same in temperment and handability.

Mine would chill on my shoulder just like my beardie and I could take him out to pet stores and stuff and he would just stay on my shoulder checking stuff out.

The nice thing about uros is that you don't have to deal with crickets at all. The down side I found was to be their tail. Cause mine, if he didn't want to be held, or just had an attitude that day he would try and club you with it, but that was on rare occasions.

Overall though I find a uro to make a great pet, so if you want one you should go for it.

I've kept multiples of both and I would say as far as tame goes a Mali or Ornate uromastyx is just as calm as a beardie and just as personable. If you decide to get a uro I would go through deer fern farms to get a CB baby. It may cost you a bit more but it's worth it. Stay away from egyptian and nigerian uros if you want something that will become tame easily. The only set back to a uro would be that they need a larger enclosure with more floor space and have more strict heating and dietary demands. While you don't have to deal with crickets you do have to provide multiple types of greenery, cacti, legumes etc. Check out deer fern farms for care info and to get a baby uro!
