USA defeats Mexico 2-0!!!!

I thought we did a great job in managing possession, and really presenting Mexico with more than a few problems in connecting a quick passing game together. Mexico was unfortunate to not score at least 1 goal, but that is why Tim Howard is a world-class keeper.

I don't think there is any doubt that the US - right now - is a better TEAM than Mexico or anyone else in CONCACAF, and with the right squad can get a result in the Azteca. And don't sleep on CONCACAF, the quality of our teams is improving. I can easily see our #4 beat CONMEBOL's #5 ... as that quality improves our performances against top competition will start to improve as well.

And perhaps next year will bring about the resurgence/re-emergence of Bobby Convey, Frankie Simek, and Jay DeMerit? The US has great depth at many positions, although we lack the top-heavy quality of most European countries.

I will say though that they had some dangerous plays on defense. There were some bad clears, that should have resulted in goals, but Mexico could not strike the ball well enough.

Also, I think that this team could benefit from having Adu on it's roster. I understand he isn't playing much right now in France, but on a team that you rightly said that lacks the top talent, having a guy there with the talent he has, could be good. Not to mention, getting him used to, and comfortable with the team and the process will be good for him.
 
We have to play them in Mexico in the final qualifier...
