Hi, have lately been looking into using a pipe as a canister for an external filter.
Its supposed to be a plain biological filter to replace a fluval 403 in a 540litre aquarium.
A 900mm long pipe with a diameter of 110mm, both ends will have a 110<->50mm adapter with the small end plugged.
Hose fittings will be mounted to both plugs.
One of the adapters will have a mesh installed to keep the hose fitting free of any filtermaterial that could restrict waterflow.
The 110<->50mm adapters have no seal on the wide end so will use either silicone or glue to make it watertight.
Both plugs will have a "cover" to prevent them from slipping of incase the rubber seal isnt enough to hold them in place.
The adapters will be held in place by a thin piece of rope tied around the thin ends of both adapters.
A 1000-1200L/H pump would be used to draw water through the filter.
Also some kind of prefilter will be used.
The parts are made of pp-h(Polypropylen-Homopolymers) and the thin end of the adapters have a rubber seal.
The volume of this filter would be around 7.5-7.9 litres.
The filter will be stored below the aqarium in a slight angle so air be drawn out by the pump.
Any thoughts, ideas or comments on this design?
Regards
