I had a leak coming from my filter once. I thought it was from my tank. I resealed my tank and used a silicone with mold additives. It killed all of my fish. It was terrible! Not only did I reseal a perfectly good tank, I killed all of my fish in the process.

Im glad I read this post. I had just used some cheapo silicone I had laying around to glue some rocks to a DIY cave. So I pulled it out and cleaned the silicone off so hopefully it doesnt hurt my fish. Since its been in there a good 3-4 days.

Most hardware stores sell aquarium safe silicone, but you still have to be a bit careful with it as it uses acetic acid (basically vinegar) as a curing agent. Using it too soon could screw your ph up a bit.

I recently resealed a 120. Afer the silicone cured for 9 days I filled the tank. The next AM the tank was leaking and the new silicone was all lose. I'm just glad that I had enough foresight to test it outside in the driveway. I resealed it again a little over a week ago with a different silicone. Did a test fill 3 days later and fortunatly it is still holding water. I plan on draining it tomorrow and moving it inside.
