Currently my 140G tank has gravel bottom and I want to remove it and go bare bottom to house about 8 discus. But rather bare bottom I want to use tile floor for bottom. My question is can I use them for bottom? What kind? Ceramic type? Glass type? or Porcelain type? Any of these tiles affecting the ph level?

Should be fine. A guy over on Simply has a tank with tile in it with wilds. It's been running for several years.

I have a friend who applied ceramic tile to the tank floor with aquarium silicone to seal the cracks and keep debris from getting under the tiles. It looks fantastic with his Discus.

:iagree: silicone the gaps to make sure the dbris dont get un the tiles

reason for barebottom growouts for discuss is fopr easy siphoning of the debris
