I am about to buy a used 35 hex tank with stand for $100. i was wondering if it was a good price? let me know what you think?

I would say yes it is! Considering that dealer pricing is around $170...and then you add in the fact that the stores jack it up to about $200....I would deffinatly say, SNATCH IT UP!!!

Yeah its a good price, but what good is a 30 gal. hex.Its taller than it is long or wide and the surface area of the water is tiny compared to the volume. It isnt really good for anything but a planted community, which is cool if thats what your going for.I can find 40 gal. longs all day around here for no more than 30 dollars and stand for less than that.Just sayin'.Yeah its a good price

There are lots of things he can do with that tank...A terrarium for frogs, or geckos. A fish tank full of neons, or other small - medium sized fish....The possibilties are endless....

They make great nightlights when full of bright tetras. With stand it is a good deal.

OMG!!! BUY IT!!! I love hex tanks. and be it against the "ordained" way of doing things- I have always kept thing OTHER than tetras in all of my tanks- my last hex was 35 or 45, sorry minor detail I forget, but I had a crazy fish: butis butis, a lion head cichlid, severums, Geo. suranemensis, a juvy black doradid, some kind of pleco, and some kind of loach, probably some kind of knife-

for the record, I habitually over stock my tanks, I over flitrate them, and I over feed. My fish are gorgeous, fat and happy, and they sometimes breed. I love hex tanks. On another forum I got flamed for reccommending one to someone, but if it's in your home, the fish are healthy, and the tank is gorgeous, then you are you are your only judge. $100 is a good deal. What you should check out, just to make yourself sure, is what brand tank it is, and how old it is, and how scratched it is. I once got an Oceanic 35g tank and stand for $85.

That is a great price, I paid over $300 for my 35 hex tank and stand. If it's what you want, then grab it!

However, I HATE my hex! I have to stand on a chair to work in it, it's a ***** to light properly (it's fully planted) and you really can't keep many fish in it because of the small surface area. IMO it's also weird to look at with all those corners distorting the view.

The only fish that really look right (again IMO) are taller fish, like angels or a discus, the smaller community fish just fill up the middle, no action in the upper area of the tank, so it looks empty.

I think they make better terrariums.

i love my 45gallon or so hex.. i bought it for 50 dollars tank, stand, lid, light and white fish tank sand in it.. but right now all i have in it is 2 irredesent sharks 1 afican clawed frog and 1 blue gourami from my buddy that sold me the tank. i have an aqua clear 50 on it right now and it looks great.. id say buy it.

That sounds like a good deal too me. I would Buy it! and plant it with a few angels and maybe a couple albino african clawed frogs.
