Just got hold of an old glass 55 to use a sump fo my new 250.
After having examined it in some detail. It seems that the tank at some stage has had a plastic trim on the top which has been replaced badly with glass bracing also it looks like someone has added bracing bars at the bottom of the tank.
The bars at the bottom create a problem in that it will be difficult to put the baffles in and get them sealed as there will be a 6mm gap below the bars.So would it be better to remove the bars and reseal the bootom of the tank when the baffles are in or just stick a strip of 6mm glass under the baffles to insure they are sealed and dont allow bypass,my main concern is that they will not bond properly in the corners due to the old silicon and I dont want the baffles failing or worse the tank to fail.
All the silicon seem to be good and a leak test,up to half full went fine I did not go higher due to concern over the top braces and lack of silicon holding them inplace.
Any veiws or advice welocome
