Used filter media - Keep or throw away?

Hi All,


So I have 2 AC 110 HOB filters I wont be using anymore for a few months. The sponges and bio rings are in good shape. Should I clean them and keep them or just toss them and buy new ones later? And if I clean them, should I use bleach on them?

Can you put them in another filter that you will be using to keep them mature so you wont have to cycle them again?

I would clean them out really well and keep them. Bleach will be fine, just rinse them well.

I have reused media as well.

rinse well under the tap. let dry. bacteria dead.

re-rinse before you use it. its like new media again. the dead bacteria/detritus are washed away.

Yeah these filters been running for 2 years, so the bacteria is really mature. So I hate to do it but I got to. Thanks for the info guys.
