used filter media..usable?

I have a question, is old filter media reusable? Considering that the previous media was used for about a few months with a saltwater setup. The pads would be replaced, but the media would be thoroughly washed and dried....is it ok? The new setup will be full fresh. Just curious..thanks!

I reuse my Ehfisubstrat Pro. Too expensive to replace. I place batches in a caulander and blast it with the garden hose. If you want to sterilize it, get a large, cheap aluminum kettle and boil it for 10 minutes.
