Picked up a Craigslist steal but the tank was used for saltwater previously. I laid the tank on its side and washed it out as thoroughly as I could with the garden hose and scrubbing with a sponge. 95-98% of all the crystallized salt came off but there's a little left that I couldn't remove. Will it hurt anything if some of the salt ends up dissolving in the water? I'm guessing it's really no different than adding salt to the aquarium, but I'd like some input.

The salt will not hurt anything. Have you tried wiping the tank down with vinegar? That oftentimes removes salt and hard water stains.

I agree with this 100%. Vinegar has worked countless times for me and makes the buildup gone for good.
