I used to keep a reef tank & would love to go back to that.
But the reason for the change back to fresh was the constant frustration battling aptasia and other pests.

I miss it a fair bit and would love to return.

I once stripped the tank and started again but alas it re occurred.

Are there any shops lfs that are guaranteed to be aptasia/pest free that offer postage UK based I'm assuming most came from frags etc.

I promised myself I'd never return due to the stress it out me under along with the wasted money.

Any help would be appreciated
Regards

Yeah probably came in on frags. I used to qt my frags I got especially if it was from someone I didn't know well. It doesn't matter you'll still get them. There is a product call franks f aptaisa I've heard it works well. I used to make a kalk paste and smear it on them or dilute the paste to make it injectable, that works well too. A friend had a high powered laser he used to boil them pretty cool, no idea how much that was. Seemed pretty dangerous if you ask me. Kind of a it comes with the territory thing unfortunately.

You have to be meticulous with everything & it takes forever. Dip & quarantine all coral. Quarantine every fish. It takes absolutely forever to stock a tank. I gave up on coral due to the out of their freaking mind prices for dime size frags & the weird name craze.

Its definitely stressful. One mistake & it's basically a do over. If your last fish brings a velvet outbreak then every other fish is toast. Aiptasia, majano, etc has broke many a reefer.
