I recently acquired a 180G w/ 2 corner overflows. One overflow was in terrible condition and i decided to remove it entirely. My idea is to use the other corner over flow as designed with a 30G sump filled w/bio media. What i want to do is take my 2 Eheim 2026's and somehow connect them with a Y fitting at the bottom of the other set of bulkheads in the tank to run 2 Canisters through 1 1" drain and 1 3/4" return. Wondering if anyone has done it before and how it worked. Or do you run them in a series type circuit?

If you run in series you can have problems if the first one becomes clogged and doesn't properly supply the following filters. I have had 1 filter run off of 2 suction/discharge lines using y's, as long as your line is big enough to supply the proper flow to each, shouldn't be a problem.

im thinking these will work great to keep them in parallel w/o to much head loss. so i ordered 1x3/4" 2x1/2" port and one 1x1" 2x3/4" wye manifolds

That should work, but what diameter tubing do the eheims use? The 1" bulkhead may restrict the flow a lot, it might be better to just use one canister.

edit: the intake is 5/8", and a 1" bulkhead will have more than double the area of that, so I think it should work fine.

They use 1/2 hose. Only thing that will limit is that my other hole it 3/4" so im trying to determine which i sould use where. Im thinking i need to make the drain the same on the 1" and the return on the 3/4 that way i keep some decent head press. the return from these is probably going to run a UGJ system
