Hey Guys,

I have had my 8x2.5x2.5 set-up with 2x 2217 and a 2215 for about 8 months now and I am not happy with how the tank looks.(Water test results are fine, its just looks untidy with 3 inlets, 3 outlets and capped holes everywhere)

Stocked with about 60 malawi's, too many species to list.
I have been on the lookout for cheap tanks aound where I live and have found a 6x2x2 with 10mm glass for $60. The tank is badly scratched, but holds water 100% fine.

The 6x2x2 will fit in my cabinet with about 45cm from the top of tank to the top of my stand. (my stand is tall as a I don't like having to stoop down to look at the fish. I'm 6"7'.

The 8x2.5x2.5 has 4x 2 inch holes drilled in the top and 4x on the bottom(each corner 2 spread out evenly in the middle) , they are threaded and just have caps covering them at the moment.
My LFS has agreed to mind my malawi's if I do decide to convert to a sump. Favour for a regular customer.

Is a 6x2x2 to big as a sump on my size tank?

You can never go wrong with added water volume. If you can get it to work go for it!

That should work out great, I would go for it.

No such thing as too big of a filter. ;)

:iagree: 100%!

Curious if your drains at the bottom have thread on both sides? Maybe you can cap the inside of the tank as you set up the sump and take off the caps to start the pumps?

Also Pics is a must when talking about a tank bigger than 240 :D
