Using a generator to power all your equipment

Is this possible? I want to add a lot more tanks but I dont want a million dollar electric bill. Has anybody done this?

I wanted to run about 10 heaters and filters, lights, dehumidifiers, air purifiers, and my huge O scale train layout

I really dont know. All I know is that generators are used for power.

You'd spend more for the generator and the fuel to run it, then that electricity would ever cost you.

wind generators for personal use are not terribly expensive ive seen some for $14 k and $24 k. they dont produce alot of power per day, but it could pay off down the road.

How's about solar panels? That too will run into the thousands

You could run a small wind turbine or PV solar panel, which you can buy at Home Depot for $1,500 - $2,000 (with controllers and dry cell batteries).

It'll only have enough power your filter, powerhead, and airpump. You won't break even after years of use, but atleast you'll be partially green.
