I am pretty new to aquariums in general.
I bought a tank that is: "80 inches long, 22.5 inches wide in the center and 15.5 inches wide on both ends. Tank is 29 inches high." Members on here calculated that it is around 180 Gallons.
It came with a Fluval FX5 & I would like to add more filtration.
I have heard good things about the Nu-Clear / Ocean Clear lineup of filters.
If I bought a 3 filter Nu-clear setup: Model 522 - 100 Micron, Model 533 - 25 Micron & Model 547 - Bio.. how would I go about getting it all working?
I heard you place the pump before the filters [a push config], so if I bought something like a Danner 18 MAG DRIVE PUMP that can pump up to 1800 gallons an hour, would I just need to find an intake pipe like the kind that comes with fluval/eheim filters.. connect the end of that to the pump, connect all the filters together with [I think it is 1" pipe for the Nu-Clear].. and then at the end of the last filter [Model 547 Bio], I would hook a 1" pipe + spray bar back up to the aquariums water surface?
Can anyone get more technical and tell me exactly what size intake pipes, linkage pipes between filters and spray-bar fitting I would need to get this all working?
Do you think a Fluval FX5 with side mechanical foam inserts + biomax or sea matrix on all 3 layers, along with 3 inline Nu-Clear canister filters would be a good setup for several large central american cichlids?
Thanks for your help.
