Okay im building a 200 gallon plywood tank, for filtration i was planning on a fx5 and then some kidna of sump, when a grea idea hit me. I could pickup a 460 gallon kinda blowup pool that comes with a 600 gph pump for around 51 dollars, do you think i could use this as a sump like have the water flow down on one side of the tank and have it flow though a bunch of like biomedia and pot scrubbers for media material.

If you have ideas on this and to help me develop it i would greatly appreciat it.

Think it would depend a lot on your space. I mean those pools are descent size for the gallons you get and IMO pretty darn ugly to have in the living room. If it can be hidden in another room in the basement or something and you got room then maybe.

Also from what I hear the pumps suck that come with them so you would have to plan on putting your own pump I think.

I would also be concerned about the humidity with such a large surface area of water without a lid so maybe figure out some sort of covering for it...

I wouldn't do it.

Do you ever see old blow-up pools? Over time the thin plastic will degrade, you're bound to have a leak or failure eventually.

Spend a little more and get a stock tank.

the pumps arent designed for 24/7 use generally and most are pigs on electricity. and as some have mentioned the pool will degrade and spring a leak. if your lucky it could be a pinhole if your not you could be th next youtube video

oh okay, hmm i was just thinking about it, but then again i also forgot that this is going to be upstairs and the 200 gallon tank alone is going to way alot so the pool as a sump is probably a major no go.

Athanks though
