I'm thinking about doing a small above-ground pond on my front patio but the space is too tight for a cinderblock pond. I got to thinking and thought about using an acrylic tank (probably 60 gallons) and then make it pretty with some wood on the sides. Has anyone done this or even thought about it? Do you guys see any problems with it? Let me know your thoughts. I'm still in the beginning stages of planning so I don't know what I'm going to put in it yet. Thanks for the help guys!

i read something about sunlight causing the acrylic to craze...im no expert but maybe someone with more knowledge can fill in.

I don't know if the crazing would really matter if you are going to cover all of the sides with plywood.

Also, you could just build a DIY tank whatever size you wanted. At that size (about 60g) it shouldn't be too hard and might even be cheaper than an acrylic tank. The only question is how it would hold up over time outside. Maybe a question to ask in the DIY forum.
