well, i was at my lfs and saw aquatic compost which is ment to b used for pond plant pot etc etc, and i thought , hmm... mabye this wud b a gud substrate? what r your thoughts?
cheers from ross
o yes i forgot to mention the tank has got a bichir, silver dollars and a blue acara in it , the compost is just sterilised dirt, very fine .
cheers again
I am not sure what you want to achieve with compost as substrate. If you like the looks of it, I would simply go with peat or leaves (oak, almond). That is proven material in our hobby. If you want to use compost as plant fertilizer you are SOL anyways because your silver dollars will eat everything green.
well i was wanting to use the compost for the bichir to dig around in , because the gravel i hav in just now looks terrible and was wanting something a litttle unique to try out. yeah i hav to agree with you on this one and wont use the compost
thanks for the reply
cheers ross
